Emmanuel Vass, BBC Music Magazine’s Rising Star for March and a Classic FM Featured Artist, will join Skipton Girls’ Chamber Choir and Skipton Youth Orchestra for a concert on Wednesday.

Born in Manila, Emmanuel grew up in East Yorkshire, studying at Leeds College of Music and the Royal Northern School of Music, Manchester. At 25, he has already established himself as one of the most versatile and talented pianists of his generation.

Ben Crick, who will conduct the concert and is artistic director of Skipton Building Society Camerata, said: “I’m delighted that Emmanuel has accepted our invitation to perform in Skipton. He is without doubt one of the most charismatic pianists on the contemporary scene and I’m really looking forward to hearing him play Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E Flat.”

The first part of the concert will feature Skipton Girls’ High School Chamber Choir and Skipton Youth Orchestra performing Haydn’s Little Organ Mass, with 17-year-old Charlotte Waters as soloist.

“It’s going to be a marvellous experience for our young musicians to perform alongside Emmanuel. You always learn so much from working with a musician of his calibre,” said Ben. “And the concert is the first in a series we are organising this year which feature world-class performers. This, of course, is part of the Camerata’s continuing commitment to persuade the very best performers to come north to Skipton to play in front of our loyal local audience – and at £5 a ticket it’s a bargain!”

The concert will take place at Skipton Girls’ High School at 7.30pm and tickets will be available on the door.
