SKIPTON: Craven Museum and Gallery is hosting its summer exhibition, Bikes, Legs, Action!

It is designed to highlight the ins and outs of cycling. Visitors can view the helmet of 2012 Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins, inspect Team Sky Rapha equipment and find out about the tactics and nutrition of cyclists.

The museum is located in Skipton Town Hall and the exhibition runs until September 20.

lSkipton Folk Unplugged will hold a singers night in the Narrowboat pub on Monday from 8.30pm.

The next booked act is on September 8 when the group, hissyfit, entertains.

lMargaret Hockney - older sister of world-renowned artist David Hockney - is exhibiting her work at the town’s Mill Bridge Gallery.

Scannergraphs: A Retrospective is the result of her experimentation with a flatbed scanner as an artistic medium.

Margaret, who lives in Bridlington, has produced series of unusual prints using a variety of subject matter, including flowers, vegetables, found objects, food and even an octopus.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, September 27.

SETTLE: Victoria Hall, in association with TRAMPS, will show the film 101 Dalmatians on Wednesday.

Adapted from the Dodie Smith novel, the1996 action film, starring Glenn Close, tells the story of the evil Cruella de Vil, a woman who loves fur and plots to kidnap puppies to make her latest fur coat.

The screening starts at 7pm.

l The Folly is staging an exhibition called War Beckons, which focuses on the early stages of the \First World War and the effects it had on the district.

Visitors can learn about the recruitment of volunteers and the commandeering of local horses following the outbreak of war, as well as some of the lesser-known stories, such as the Belgian refugees who were brought to Settle and the efforts of local people to raise money and support the troops.

It will give residents and visitors a greater understanding of the sacrifices that were made by the people of North Craven.

And, next Thursday, September 4, Folly volunteers Jeanette Talbot and Kate Croll will explain the impact of the First World War on everyday life in a talk at Settle Library. It starts at 7.30pm. and tickets cost £2.

Running alongside War Beckons is another exhibition, Journeys Through a Family Archive, which explores the story of the Riley family and their many involvements in the life of Settle and district over nearly 100 years.

Both exhibitions run until November 2.

lThere is still chance to catch the Gallery On The Green’s Rugged Faces show.

The exhibition showcases16 powerful and thought-provoking black and white portraits, taken mainly in India, by former Settle resident Ray Price, who now lives in York.

It features work by Hester Cox, Francesca Roberts, Frank Gordon, Pam Grimmond, Ross Brown, Jenny Devereux, Margaret Uttley and Andrea Hunter.

It will run until next Thursday, September 4.

lChris Rigby is exhibiting his landscape paintings at Linton Court Gallery.

Chris, who has exhibited previously in Settle, is showcasing landscape studies painted in both oil and watercolour at locations throughout the British Isles, including the coast of Scotland, Ireland and the Lakeland Fells.

The exhibition, Landscapes, runs until Saturday.

The gallery is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at other times by appointment.

BARNOLDSWICK: After a three-month break, northern soul nights return to Rolls Royce Leisure Club this weekend.

The first night of the new season will take place on Saturday, starting at 8pm and running until 1pm.

Admission is £5 on the door.

GRASSINGTON: Rawdon artist Michael Curran is staging his annual watercolour exhibition at the town hall.

His work focuses on the Dales and the exhibition runs until next Sunday, September 7.

KILDWICK: Johnny B plus guests feature in the free music session at the White Lion, Kildwick, on Sunday, from 4pm to 7pm.

SILSDEN: The Blue Suede Dudes will be in action in Silsden next weekend.

The rock ‘n’ roll musicians Dale Kitson, Lee Kitson and Roger Kirby will play at Sunny Bank Social Club next Saturday, September 6.

The Keighley trio first teamed up in 2011 to play some 50s classics for Dale’s birthday but enjoyed it so much they carried on.

They focus on performing rocked-up covers of rock ‘n’ roll classics, including three-way harmonies, by the likes of Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, The Beatles and Jerry Lee Lewis.
