SINGERS from across Skipton are preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, performing in the historic city of Prague.

Jetting off today, members of Skipton Rock Up and Sing! will join their Harrogate counterparts to form a 120-strong choir.

The singers will perform into front of an audience of around 500 people at the House of Culture in Teplice and in front of about 800 people at the Dvorak Hall, Rudolfinum - home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

Choir director Rhiannon Gayle said: “This is a really fantastic opportunity for our choirs to experience performing in not just a new venue, but also in a different country, to a completely fresh audience.

“To have 120 choir members coming with us to perform is great – we’ll really be able to fill the concert halls with sound. We’ve been rehearsing like mad and we’ve put together a programme which has a bit of everything, from power ballads to full-on rock songs."
