MEDIA and performing arts students at Settle College benefitted from a visit by former pupil Dan Hartley, who is now a director, writer and video assistant, and professional actor Dan Jarvis.
Mr Hartley - who was the driving force behind the successful Lad: A Yorkshire Story - has been working in the film industry for 14 years and was able to give students an insight to working in the industry.
He started off as a runner, which gave him a great introduction to the industry, and launched his own production company, Rogue Runner. He became a video assistant, working on all the Harry Potter films.
During the visit, students were shown a sequence from the film Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and Mr Hartley explained about special effects and the editing process.
A question and answer session gave students the opportunity to further explore Mr Hartley's wealth of experience.
