THE 2015 concert series at Bolton Abbey Priory Church starts tomorrow.

And first to perform will be Aireborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

It last appeared in 2011 and, this time, will perform a semi-staged production of its recent show, The Sorcerer.

The story revolves around the efforts of the son of the Lord of the Manor to bring to all unmarried villagers the happiness he feels as a result of his betrothal. To this end, he engages the services of the Sorcerer, whose efforts result in some unlikely pairings.

Twelve students from the Leeds College of Music will entertain on Friday, May 29.

Those taking part will include a saxophone quartet, a guitar trio, a solo pianist and a quartet comprising clarinet, violin, piano and cello. They will present a varied programme, catering for a wide range of tastes.

Next to perform will be the Manchester Chorale on Saturday, June 27.

This choir, originally founded and funded by the BBC in 1979, is now totally independent and is under the musical direction of Jill Henderson-Wild.

It will be the choir's third visit, having given successful concerts at the Priory in 2007 and 2010.

The final concert of the series takes place on Friday, July 31, and will feature pianist Emmanuel (Manny) Vass,

Since graduating as a Leverhulme Scholar from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manny has had a flying start to his career, including broadcasting live on BBC 6 Music.

To mark his return to the Priory, Yorkshire Pianos of Bolton Abbey will erect a stage for their grand piano in front of the sanctuary.

Sponsored by Kirbys solicitors, all concerts start at 7.30pm and audience members are invited to enjoy a picnic in the priory grounds beforehand.
