SKIPTON Little Theatre's summer season of three comedies kicks off next week.

First up is Michael Parker's Whose Wives Are They Anyway - which is a story of two wives going on a shopping spree while their husbands enjoy the sporting allure of a golfing weekend.

The play is directed by Phil Smith and will be staged at the Little Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday. (jun16 to 20)

The second romantic offering, The Mating Game, takes place in an opulent Mayfair penthouse apartment and was a worldwide hit for playwright Robin Hawdon. The critics loved it too.

At the hit premiere in London, one critic said: "This comedy raises the roof particularly at the point when the audience laughed fit to bust during the romantic interludes."

It will also be directed by Mr Smith and will run from Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, August 1.

The final play in the threesome is the one that was re-scheduled from April when cast illness meant that it had to be postponed.

Over My Dead Body is about a recently widowed pensioner who is looking forward to his new found freedom and is determined to follow his own interests and hobbies, little realising that his late wife has wisely left prescriptive instructions with friends and family as to how she thinks he ought to behave in her absence.

Written by Derek Benfield, the play will be directed by Richard Wilkinson and will be staged from Tuesday, August 18 August to Saturday, August 22.

All performances start at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) and tickets can be booked on 07527 141176.
