SETTLE Stories has turned to crowdfunding to help bring an arts installation to its storytelling festival in April.

It has asked supporters to pledge £1 to cover the cost of securing The Pig - described as theatrical wonder with a show in the pig's belly.

"Settle Stories is passionate about bringing high quality arts events to our rural community," said director Sita Brand. "Together we can make the arts accessible to all."

This year's festival - the sixth to be held - will once again transport visitors to other worlds.

It will run from April 1 to 3 and highlights will include comedy with Alfie Moore, who enjoyed a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the mystery of the Arabian Nights with Arabic storyteller Alia Alzougbi, music from gypsy folk band Barbarella’s Bang Bang and magic from master storyteller Martin Shaw.

And David Babbs, from 38 Degrees, will explain how you can use a story to get radical change.

There will also be an opportunity to discover the Terrible Tudors with Dave Tong, to meet Robin Hood and his bold brave band, including Little John, Will Scarlet and Much the Miller’s Son and to listen to an interview with Giggleswick School's Matthew Wilcock, winner of television's The Great Pottery Throw Down.

On a more serious note, the poisoning of Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko will be told through the medium of tea.

Tickets are available from settlestories.org.uk and there will be discounts of up to 60 per cent for those booked before March 1.
