HERITAGE Opera returns to Skipton on Saturday - but to a new venue.
It will perform for the first time at the Mart Theatre.
Well-known to Skipton audiences, soprano Sarah Helsby Hughes and tenor Nicholas Sales will lead a professional cast of 10 singers in Madame Butterfly, Puccini’s heart-breaking story of undying love and longing.
The opera is about a naïve girl, with passionate dreams of romance, who marries Lieutenant BF Pinkerton of the US Navy. However, his ideas of marital commitment are somewhat different to hers, and he soon leaves her to sail back to America. She waits patiently for him to return - but there is no happy ending.
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from themarttheatre.org.uk or call 01756 709666.
