MUSIC will be focus of Settle's Victoria Hall this weekend.
The Company of Players will perform tomorrow, bringing together 12 of the best emerging musicians on the UK folk and acoustic scene.
Said The Maiden, The Sam Kelly Trio, Lukas Drinkwater, Kelly Oliver, Minnie Birch, Daria Kulesh, Kim Lowings, and Chris Cleverley will collaborate on a new body of folk music, celebrating the works of William Shakespeare.
They will present songs about love, loss, death and magic inspired by the imagination of one of Britain's greatest literary icons.
And, there are two treats on Saturday.
Canadian singer, guitarist and writer Russell deCarle will join Denis Keldie (accordion) and Steve Briggs (acoustic guitar) for a performance at 2pm.
Russell fronted iconic Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster over many years and racked up an impressive list of Canadian Country Music Awards, gold and platinum selling records and Number 1 singles. As a songwriter, he carried off two Song of the Year accolades.
“He is a classy performer whose heart knows how to deliver a lyric," said head booker Loudon Temple.
Performing in the evening will be Mànran - one of the best-known and best-loved Scottish bands on the scene today.
Inspired by its Celtic roots, fiery tunes from fiddle, accordion, flute, uillean and Highland bagpipes bind powerfully with elements of funk, jazz and rock to create innovative instrumental music.
