AUSTWICK will rock to the music of two bands, fronted by parents of pupils at Austwick Primary School, on Friday.

In what’s being billed as an Evening of Summer Fun, local group Jukebox Junkies will perform first, followed by Growing Old Disgracefully.

All proceeds raised will go to the school.

Matt Purcell, of Jukebox Junkies, whose son is an Austwick pupil, said: "It’s vital to support our local village school, which is at the heart of our small community."

And parent Sue Davey, lead vocalist with Growing Old Disgracefully, a band that has supported the Proclaimers at Grassington Festival, added "I’m looking forward to contributing to a local event."

Headteacher Jo Lister, who came up with the idea, sees it as an ideal opportunity for the village to come together. "We’ve had wonderful support, not only from the school PTA, but also from the wider village community."

The event will take place on Austwick playing fields from 6pm and offers not only music, but also Austwick’s first Bake-Off and children’s entertainment. Tickets include food and cost £8 for adults, £4 for children and £20 for families. They are available from Austwick Primary School on 015242 51366.
