SKIPTON Musical Theatre are running a summer scheme for children during the school holidays.

Youngsters can act, sing and dance during the sessions running from Monday to Friday, August 1 to 5, from 10am till 4am.

They will be able to perform songs from Les Miserables, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Disney’s Jungle Book and Lion King.

Skipton Musical Theatre, one of the town’s leading amateur theatre groups, said children could learn a range of new skills during the week, while discovering their potential.

A spokesman said: “This will allow them to embrace their creative side, whilst meeting new friends, increasing confidence and providing a stimulating experience that will make this summer one to remember.

“There will be plenty of opportunity for everyone involved to develop their self-esteem as well as improving their communication and teamwork skills."

The summer school, the first from the group, is aimed at anyone aged eight to 16. Participants are promised an exciting, fun-filled week of musical theatre.

The summer school will be held in the Clifford Suite at the Black Horse in Skipton, and following the week’s sessions there will be a performance on the Friday evening.
