HIKERS will be treated to four guided walks this month organised by Bradford Council’s Countryside Service.
The first walk, entitled Bordley The Lost Village, will follow a circular six-mile route on Sunday, September 4.
Meet Barbara Walker at 11am in Threshfield on the B6160 – ignore the turning to Grassington to the right, and take next left, signposted Skirethorns. There is ample roadside parking on this “no through road”.
A spokesman said: “This is as delightful a walk as you will find in the Dales – the first view of Bordley is like a glimpse of Shangri-La.”
A circular 12-mile walk across will be held on September 11.
Meet Ken Allen at 10am at Bracken Hall, Glen Road, Baildon, for a good walk over Ilkley Moor to the Cow and Calf.
Lunds Tower above Sutton is the target for a eight-mile circular walk on September 18.
Meet Ken Allen 11am at Eastburn Post Office, Keighley Road, for an easy start by the river then “a bit of a climb but easy on the way back.”
The walk season comes to an end on September 28 with a trek to Hog Hill and Weecher Mouth.
The linear seven-mile walk will begin at 10.30am when walkers should meet Malcolm Gardner at Bingley station for a climb up to the moors of Bingley and Ilkley, finishing at Ilkley station. Return by rail or bus.
