SKIPTON Players are performing sitcom king Eric Chappell’s comedy-drama Summer End.
The play is being performed nightly until Saturday at Skipton Little Theatre, next to Tesco’s, at 7.30pm.
The play, helmed by regular director Richard Wilkinson, is the first of a season of five productions.
A spokesman said: “Chappell, who is best known for his long-running Yorkshire Television series Rising Damp, has written many entertaining and true to life plays and series.
“A good number of these have already been performed by others and well-received by the Skipton patrons. "This play, with an enviable cast, promises to be no exception.”
The basis of the plot revolves around the fact that Emily Baines and May Brewer share a room in a retirement home. Emily’s roommate, Bella died not long ago. Was she murdered?
Bella’s sapphire ring disappears and turns up again. Emily cannot remember enough about her past to stop the finger of suspicion pointing at her.
The spokesman added: “Excellent stagecraft and wit ensure that the plot comes to life and the truth is finally revealed.”
