SKIPTON Music, a long established promoter of classical music, received a welcome donation of more than £250 from 'across the pond'.
The donation came from Mr and Mrs Paul Sullivan of Mount Vernon, New York, who regularly spend time in Skipton and recently discovered the music society.
They were so happy with the concerts they saw and heard that they sent the society a donation.
The Sullivans were very thrilled with the October concert, Sacconi String Quartet with Robert Plane, the world famous clarinetist, that they felt they would show their delight in a practical way.
The Skipton Music Committee were stunned to receive this amount of money from an individual donor and have written an appreciative letter of thanks.
They are also waiting to welcome Mr and Mrs Sullivan to the Tuesday night concerts at the Town Hall, as soon as they return to Skipton.
A Skipton Music spokesman said: "Philanthropy is alive and well and on this occasion, benefits all music lovers in Craven."
Skipton Music's next concert will feature a performance by violinist Alina Ibragimova at Skipton Town Hall on Tuesday.
