AN award-winning and long-running blues festival in Pendle will have a new organiser next year.

Alison Goode, chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: "After a fantastic 27 years of bringing the blues to the people of Colne and beyond, Pendle Leisure Trust is handing over the reins of organising and running The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival to Colne Town Council.

"We would like to thank all our fans for their continued support over the last 27 years and the hundreds of amazing artistes who have graced the many stages of this great festival; it has been a privilege to work with and listen to them all.

"It goes without saying, we would also like to thank our long-standing sponsors who have shown their support year after year – Barnfield Construction, Community Rail Lancashire, Radio Lancashire, Coach House and Pendle Borough Council.

"We wish Colne Town Council every success with its new venture and hope it will continue to build on the reputation of this great festival, which has won numerous awards, including Best Blues Festival in the British Blues Awards and Best Blues Festival in the European Blues Awards for two consecutive years."
