THREE artists from the Craven area have started up a pop-up art exhibition which will run at Skipton Town Hall until the end of February.

Film animator and director Virpi Kettu, who was involved with Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and the Burn the Witch video for Radiohead, has started the Studio 1 project with storyteller Patricia Stienstra and local artist Ellie Morley from Replica FX.

Studio 1, located in Skipton Town Hall, is an open studio and creative space where people can see the magic of animation take place in front of their eyes.

The first part of the project by Virpi Kettu is Dogs' Dales, an animated short film featuring real locations and real Skipton locals as anthropomorphic dogs.

The animation puppets and sets are made using local wool as material, referencing Skipton?s proud sheep heritage.

Patricia Stienstra from brightstories.co.uk is developing the second part of the project, a storytelling/puppet show with one of the featured characters from Dogs' Dales, Rudi The Crow, a straight talking country crow keen to make new friends.

Patricia will make the puppet in Studio 1 using local wool and develop Rudi?s stories in front of visitors.

For the third part of the project, Ellie Morley from Replica FX will experiment with wool and other materials to create Craven inspired art pieces that are linked to her digital media work.

Studio 1, which has the support of Skipton Town Hall and Bowman-Riley Architects, is provided with grants by Craven District Council and from individual Craven councillors.

The project, which can be viewed from noon to 4pm Monday through Saturday, runs until February 27.
