MEMBERS of Skipton Choral Society are counting the days to their Easter concert on Saturday with more anticipation than usual.

“This is a very important concert in our development,” explains Sally Goodman, chairman of Skipton Choral Society. “It’s the first one to be conducted by our interim musical director, Yonni Levy, one of Britain’s youngest active conductors, and features two young soloists with an impressive list of achievements.

“We are delighted to have this chance to encourage musicians in the early stage of their career, and we look forward to a sparkling concert of songs of celebration and praise.”

The programme includes Hubert Parry’s 'Blest Pair of Sirens', Charles Villiers Stanford’s 'Te Deum', Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 'Let all the world in every corner sing' and Antonio Vivaldi’s 'Gloria'.

The soloists are Amber Furssedonn-Coates, soprano, who recently graduated from Leeds College of Music with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in Classical Music, and Helen Gregory, mezzo soprano, who completed her postgraduate MMus studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2012 and now studies with dramatic soprano Jane Irwin.

Skipton Choral Society’s Easter concert takes place at 7.30pm this Saturday at Christ Church in Skipton.

Tickets costing £8.50 are available from choir members or from treasurer Sheila Bloomfield on 01756 751879 or 07933 925875 or by emailing treasurer@skiptonchoralsociety.com
