PEOPLE are being invited into a Skipton studio to see the creation of an animated film.

Studio 1 is an open studio in Skipton Town Hall where Skipton-based artist and film animator-director Virpi Kettu is making an animated film called Dogs' Dales.

This five-minute long stop motion animated feature has involved Virpi, who has worked on Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, transforming real local places into animation sets and actual people who live here into look-a-like breeds of dogs.

The real stories she has heard in her few years in the area have also been carefully woven into the film script.

People are welcome to visit Virpi in the studio and see the animation being made in real time.

Studio 1 also has activity stations for visitors to try out stop motion animation and storytelling.

Open visiting days are Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 4pm.

Local residents can also become an animated character in the film or otherwise support the making of Dog's Dales and get their name to the film credits by visiting the crowdfunding page at indiegogo.com/projects/dogs-dales-animation and making a donation.
