THE SHERATONS are playing Keighley and Skipton as part of a northern tour also taking in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.

The young indie pop quartet, who have already been seen at local gigs including Silsden, are promoting their debut single Better Days.

The tour begins at the Venue, Skipton, tonight (Friday) and also includes the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street, Keighley, on October 7.

Better Days is described as a suitably springy, stupidly catchy sound, exploring themes of youthful exuberance.

The foursome hail from Bingley boast primitive jangling guitar evoking The La’s or The Byrds, and the jollier side of The Cure.

The Sheratons comprise of Kane Bulleyment (lead guitar and vocals), James Jowett (bass guitar and vocals), Finley Ryan (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Emma Liu (drums).

A spokesman said: “Each of them has a very individual style in all senses, from Kane’s James Dean cool to Finley’s Doc Marten ska, but with a sound that is ageless and reassuring.

“Thrillingly, they may be the first signs of a return of the long-missed Paisley Underground – a DIY music movement from the 1980s which saw the likes of The Bangles and The Chills emerge with clever, perfectly-formed pop but with a twist that only comes from a complete belief in their fellow band members.”

The Sheratons can also be seen at Manchester Academy on September 22; Jimmy’s in Manchester during Indie Week UK, on October 14, and the Lending Room, Leeds, on November 18.
