GRASSINGTON Players will be watching their Ps and Qs in this autumn’s production of Mr Bennet’s Bride.

Chosen to mark the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, this new play by Emma Wood is a prequel to Jane Austen’s much loved classic, Pride and Prejudice.

Set in the late 1780s, before the dashing Mr Darcy is out of nappies, the romantic love interest of Mr Bennet’s Bride is the young James Bennet, a handsome but disinterested bachelor being rushed to choose a wife in order to save Longbourne from the hands of the obnoxious Collins family.

The play, which will staged from Thursday, October 19, to Saturday, October 21, in Grassington Town Hall, features a strong cast directed by Paula Vickers.

The production has been welcomed as a chance to show off the skills of the Grassington Players’ set, costume and make-up team.

Tickets are available online at grassingtonplayers.co.uk or from Grassington Hub on 01756 752222.
