THE 2017/18 season of Concert and Cakes at All Saints Church in Burton-in-Lonsdale will begin on Saturday, October 21, with a performance by the The Flux Trio.

The flute, clarinet and bassoon musical ensemble will perform a broad range of chamber music from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Flux Trio's repertoire features works spanning from medieval to brand-new, and the group aims to bring fresh ideas and performance styles to the chamber music genre.

The concert will be followed by refreshments, including homemade cakes, and a chat with the musicians.

No ticket is required, but visitors will be invited to make a donation and there is a modest charge for refreshments.

There will be three more Concert and Cakes musical performances lined up for its 2017/18 season.

The Louko String Quartet, winners of the 2017 Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Chris Rowland International Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year Award, will perform at the Burton-in-Lonsdale church on Saturday, November 18.

They will play a classical programme including work by Dimitri Shostakovich, for which Chris Rowland himself was so acclaimed.

Chameleon Wind Quintet, an eclectic band who play 20 different instruments and winners of the 2017 RNCM Chris Rowland International Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year Audience Prize, will perform on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

The season will conclude on Saturday, March 17, 2018 with a performance by Sam Rodwell’s Guitar Trio.

International RNCM artist Sam Rodwell brings the first classical guitar trio to Concert and Cakes with a programme including Spanish influenced pieces.
