GLUSBURN Institute is sprinkling the next 12 months with live entertainment and cinema screenings.

The arts and community centre has announced a host of events including concerts by the renowned singer Kiki Dee and jazz saxophonist Snake Davis.

The last movie screening of the current season will be the acclaimed Second World War drama Dunkirk on Friday May for at 7.30pm.

The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, stars Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Kenneth Brannagh.

The box office hit is said to offer a real insight into the events of Dunkirk at the start of the war, and the real price paid by those who fell.

The bar opens at 7pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. It has a 12a certificate and tickets cost £5.

Singer Kiki Dee, who shot to fame in the 1970s with Elton John duet Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, will perform with her long-time musical partner Carmelo.

The October 28 appearance will come during a UK and European tour to mark Kiki’s 55th year in the music industry.

The Snake Davis Band, led by the renowned jazz saxophonist, will perform 25 classics on April 27 2019, including Baker Street, Careless Whisper, Respect and Yakety Yak, as well as snake’s own solos from hit singles A Million Love Songs, Moving On Up and Search For The Hero.

Local people can experience the sights and sounds of Broadway and the West End as a 10-strong cast perform Broadway Spectacular May 19.

Hit songs from everyone’s favourite musicals are promised.

Carl & Dave will present comedy magic on November 17, mixing impressive illusions and knockabout fun with what is billed as a fabulous family show bursting with life.

Red Ladder Theatre Company will perform their critically-acclaimed football drama The Damned United on June 23, portraying the dark days when notorious manager Brian Clough took over Leeds United in the 1970s.

Soul Train, a dynamic seven-piece band who regularly perform across the border in East Lancashire, will be at Glusburn Institute on December 8 to perform Motown and Stax classics.

There will be hits from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, and Sam and Dave.
