A FAMILY show tackling the issue of climate change and the plight of bees will be staged in Giggleswick next month.

Multi award-winning ThisEgg theatre company will make its first visit to the Richard Whiteley Theatre to perform the family comedy Me and My Bee at 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 2.

Spurred on by recent news coverage of the plight of the humble bee, the new family friendly show for children and adults tackles the important issue of the damage being caused to ecosystems and climates by humans.

Producer and performer Josie Dale-Jones said: “Albert Einstein said that without the bees, humans would have four years left to live. We rely on bees to pollinate one third of the crops we use as food.”

Being a family show for children and adults, it tackles these big issues in a more intimate manner.

It is a show about cause and effect, it is about humans as much as it is about bees. It is about doing more to help, before it is too late.

Josie added: “We wanted to create a show that highlighted the issues but also empowered our audience to feel that they could make a difference.”

Me and My Bee received numerous four and five star reviews at the 2017 Edingburgh Festival Fringe and won the Les Enfants Terribles Stepladder Award. It has also been shortlisted for the NSDF Edinburgh Emerging Artists Award, The Fringe Sustainable Practice Award and the Brighton Award for Excellence.

Me and My Bee is supported by funding from Arts Council England and the National Lottery.
