SKIPTON Town Hall will celebrate the Royal Wedding with a free indoor street party and live screening of the event on Saturday, May 19.

There will also be a Sheep to Cloth textile event and a screening of Shaun The Sheep – The Movie, to coincide with Museums at Night.

The marriage of HRH Prince Henry of Wales to Meghan Markle will be shown on the big cinema screen in the town hall.

The couple will marry at midday and travel through Windsor in a carriage at 1pm. The Skipton event will run from 11.30am to 4pm, and Pimms, tea, cakes and other refreshments will be available from the Hub bar.

The event Sheep to Cloth will be running from 2pm to 5pm the same day; and Museums at Night is a nationwide event where all UK museums, galleries, libraries and heritage sites can throw open their doors after hours to showcase their treasures.

The town hall event will celebrate the textile skills of Craven throughout the ages with the chance to try out historic cloth making skills.

Visitors to Sheep to Cloth can try spinning with a drop spindle, dyeing from plants or weaving on a peg loom. Skipton Embroiderers’ Guild and Craven Guild of Lacemakers will give demonstrations.

The screening of Shaun The Sheep – The Movie will be at 5pm. Tickets, which cost £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children including a tea-time picnic, are available on 01756 792809 or at cravendc.gov.uk/skipton-town-hall
