SETTLE Stories will present a show by BBC Radio 4 comedy legend who will share tales of life in the police force.

Former detective sergeant turned stand up comedian Alfie Moore, star of his own hit BBC Radio 4 comedy series, It’s a Fair Cop, returns to Settle after a hugely popular show at the 2016 Settle Stories Festival.

Alfie will present a hilarious, interactive work in progress ahead of recording the new series of the critically acclaimed It’s a Fair Cop.

The performance will be held at 7pm on Saturday, May 26, at Settle Stories’ new venue, the Joinery. With a maximum audience of 45 people, advance booking is recommended.

Shortly after passing his exams to be promoted to police inspector, Alfie took up comedy and found it gave him a ‘voice’ to raise awareness of topical policing issues.

During his show, Alfie ‘swears in’ the audience as police officers and takes them through real-life scenarios from his ‘casebook’ gathered over his 20 years on the force for Humberside police. He playfully challenges them with moral dilemmas, that police officers face every day, and invites them to contribute the real-time policing decisions - with often unexpected and entertaining results.

Sita Brand, director of Settle Stories said: “Settle Stories is all about bringing the very best artists to our rural community and Alfie Moore has got to be on my list of the most exciting artists we’ve worked with. People often think stories are just for children, Alfie’s tales of life on the force, that mix hilarity with a great level of wit, just go to show that stories are more than just child’s play. I can’t wait to welcome Alfie back after his knockout performance at the 2016 festival and what a way to kick off our summer programme of events.”
