WEST END performers are turning to Glusburn following the “roaring success” of their first Musical Theatre Workshop in the village.

Gemma Pipe and Will Breckin from Theatre Works Academy led their inaugural session for children early this month at Glusburn Arts Centre.

They will be back at the venue, also known as Glusburn Institute, on Sunday June 10, to work with children aged 5 to 18 from 10am to 1pm.

The workshop will cost £15 per person, and the youngsters will work on material from the hit musicals Matilda and Mamma Mia.

They will learn exact choreography and staging from the West End productions, with Gemma and Will using their professional experience to coach the children on vocals, acting, performance and dance technique.

An arts centre spokesman said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for children to work with professionals from the West End and UK number one touring shows.”

Gemma said: “During the first workshop we were really impressed with the level of talent and energy. We worked on two pieces, Broadway musical ‘Hairspray’ and feature film and musical ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

“In our workshops we always use the exact choreography and directions from the shows, so we were thrilled to see everyone do such a great job! We always give parents a chance to see what we have worked on.”

Will is originally from Yorkshire and recently performed in the professional version of musical Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing Zebulon and understudying at Joseph.

Suffolk woman Gemma toured in Joseph in 2016 as performer, dance captain and assistant to the director. She is also formed in musicals Legally Blonde and The Addams Family.
