The TV cameras will be on Grassington Players next week.
The group has secured the rights to perform the first amateur production of Calendar Girls, and BBC Look North is expected to attend the first auditions in the games room of Grassington Town Hall on Monday.
The show is based on the exploits of Rylstone WI members, who shed their clothes to make a charity calendar. Among those taking part in the stage production is original Calendar Girl Beryl Bamforth, who has been involved with the Players since 1970.
Also set to be interviewed is Grassington Players director Ed Williams, who said at the time the rights were secured: “The eyes of the world will be on this production. It’s fantastic that the play is going to be performed here in Wharfedale where the story began.”
There will be further auditions next Thursday, February 9, and on Monday, February 13, at 7.30pm. All potential cast members are welcome.
Rehearsals start in June and the show will be staged on Friday, August 31, Saturday, September 1, and from September 6 to 8.
