The Northern Chamber Orchestra will be joined by Raphael Wallfisch, one of the most celebrated cellists performing on the international stage, for a concert at Christ Church, Skipton.
The event next Friday, May 18, will also feature the Junior Band from Skipton Music Centre.
Mr Wallfisch will perform John Joubert’s cello concerto, which was premiered in the pre-Olympic Games music festival, Music Nation, to critical acclaim. The performance at Christ Church will be only the second time it has been played in public. The programme also includes Haydn’s Symphony No 76, Faure’s Nocturne from Shylock and Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.
The Junior Band from Skipton Music Centre will play its version of Variations on a Theme. The composition is the culmination of a project which gave the band members the opportunity to work with professional composer Andy Smith and Northern Chamber Orchestra players.
Tickets cost £14 for adults and £10 for concessions (under-18s free) from 0161 247 2220, Skipton Tourist Information Centre and on the door.
