Proms on the Farm event is a big success

Promenaders in their best attire enjoy an evening of entertainment at this year’s Proms on the Farm at Silsden Promenaders in their best attire enjoy an evening of entertainment at this year’s Proms on the Farm at Silsden

Visitors travelled from as far afield as Manchester, Nottingham and Derby for this year’s Proms on the Farm at Silsden .

There was almost a full house and, despite the recent rain, ground conditions were excellent, allowing the ladies to wear strappy sandals and the gentlemen, their best shoes.

“The sun came out, enabling the promenaders to sit outside enjoying their Pimms and strawberries, and of course, good old Yorkshire fare,” said one of the organisers Rosalie Holroyd.

Music was provided by Herr Jen’s Concert Band, Silsden’s For One Night Only and Skelmanthorpe Brass Band.

And the evening concluded with a rousing rendition of music from The Last Night of the Proms with soloist Sarah Halstead, who has now become a firm favourite with the promenaders.

Auctioneer Matthew Binns conducted a very profitable auction with lots ranging from tickets for the Ebor Meeting at York Racecourse to half a Dales spring lamb and a signed Leeds Rhinos shirt.

“This was an evening of great family entertainment,” added Mrs Holroyd.

Thanks go to all who supported the event and the money raised will be divided between Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church and Community building.
