Sir – Today I was out shopping in Skipton with a friend, and being a 15-year-old I had no option of getting home apart from the bus as Gargrave train station is too far away from my house.
Recently I have paid just £1 for the bus to Gargrave, so I was shocked to discover that I had to pay £3.25 just to be sat on a bus for 10 minutes which I find absolutely extortionate!
I pay £3.25 return to Clitheroe which is about 20 miles away from Skipton.
So to pay £3.25 for a single to travel three or four miles back to Gargrave is unfair.
I understand that we live in a very rural community but it only costs £1.75 single to go to Grassington which is even more rural than Gargrave.
I also have been told it is £5 single to Gargrave for an adult, which is awful if you are a daily commuter!
My mother doesn’t even bother going to Skipton anymore due to these prices.
I hope I have put my point across about extortionate bus fares and hope that the Pennine Bus company will understand where I am coming from and will lower their fares.
Harriet Ball, Gargrave
