I WAS delighted to read the letter from Peter Bewes – Parking Solutions (Craven Herald, February 4).
What Peter has done is highlight the extent of not only the future traffic problems on existing roads that will be created by Wyvern Park, but also the current problems on the same roads in the surrounding area.
Peter has effectively shown there should be no parking on all surrounding roads, which highlights the absurdity of the Wyvern Park development being allowed to go ahead without any plans to develop the infrastructure to cope.
For those of us living on the roads highlighted, we could never accept this plan as we would be left with nowhere to park.
What Peter’s plan does highlight is the short-sighted view of Craven District Council and Henry Boot, and the need for them to consult properly with the affected community and work together with us to devise a solution that is acceptable to everyone.
Wyvern Park, having been under four feet of water, may prevent the development going ahead as management of flooding is a condition: "Final permission would not be granted unless provisions are made so that water run off from the land, once developed, is no greater than at present."
However, I expect CDC and Henry Boot will find a way around this, but they may stumble at a hurdle that has been badly overlooked and that they will have to take into account; the conservation area in which we live.
Thank you to all those of you who have emailed me. I have been overwhelmed and delighted by the response; thank you.
Please email me at tim@timforman.com if anyone requires any further information.

THE Rotary Club of Settle would like to thank the wonderful people of Settle and the surrounding areas for the amazing response to our Christmas Santa collections.
Despite the atrocious conditions on the day of the lights switch-on, you turned out in your hundreds and bought our raffle tickets and visited Santa in his Grotto, despite several elves spending all day hanging on to the tent to prevent it blowing away.
Our collections throughout December around the villages are a truly rewarding experience.
We receive bags of coppers, notes and children’s spending money, and each donation is a very special gift in its own right.
Your generosity helped us raise nearly £5,000, which will be used to support local causes, such as the swimming pool, rugby club and cricket club, and grant many other smaller requests.
It is warming to think you respect us to make good use of the money you donate, and it is very much appreciated.
As a club, we are just a small group of ordinary people trying to make some difference to people’s lives. Thank you for allowing us to do this.

I WRITE in response to Katie Chabriere’s comments – Moorland Stewardship (Craven Herald letters, February 4).
We seem to blame flooding of the local area on the burning off of the moor for grouse habitation. We are now quoting conservationists and the RSPB, who have their own agenda. You have only to take a look at Crag Side, below the Pinnacle, Cowling, to see the destruction of the flora and fauna by mountain bikes and motorbikes, yet this is allowed to happen on a daily basis. It will take decades for the moor to recover and, when it does, the flooding down the road, with water flowing down Dick Lane and Cow Lane onto the Cowling to Cross Hills road, will stop. Perhaps the burning of grouse moors is not the problem but outright vandalism by human beings and no stewardship of the moor.
