All change as landlords move on
The Plough Inn
The Plough Inn

It will be "all change" for two Dales pubs as their landlords prepare to move on to pastures new.

After 15 years at The Buck Inn, Malham, Juli Boocock has witnessed most of the goings-on up the Dale first hand, including the foot and mouth outbreak of 2001, and readily admits that when it is time to leave she will miss it all very much.

A lot has changed over this time, but The Buck has remained a firm favourite with walkers, visitors to the area and locals alike.

The business has been acquired by national pub company Enterprise Inns Plc, which intends to let the premises to new operators.

Jim Hedland, acquisition manager for the company, said: "This is a tremendous opportunity for us and for a new operator.

"We are looking for somebody to continue operating this well-known and much-loved business, building on the success of the previous owners."

The Buck Inn is a traditionally-styled public house with two separate bars plus dining/ functions facilities and 10 letting bedrooms.

Agents Westlake & Co are handling the letting and a number of interested parties are already booked for a viewing day in April.

Over in Wigglesworth, the 18th century Plough Inn, owned by Steve and Sue Amphlett, has been put on the market.

The Amphletts have been at the helm since 2000. For a price tag of £670,000, the new owner will get a three-star inn with two restaurants and nine letting rooms.

The inn has recently been licensed to hold civil weddings and has just received a good hygiene award from Craven District Council following a kitchen refurbishment.

The sale of the Plough Inn is being handled by Fleurets Agency.
