Giggleswick School says it is hoping to create a 300-seat theatre in its old sports hall.
It is currently seeking planning permission for the scheme, costing £2 million, which it says would be the last piece in an eight-year development plan for the school.
It is proposed to build an extension at the front of the main entrance to create additional foyer space and introduce modern lighting, sound equipment and an air handling unit.
