To mark the 60th birthday of the NHS in July, North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust is asking retired health care workers for their memories of working for the service.

A special section of the Trust's website (nyypct.nhs.uk) is being set up for people to post their personal memories.

Existing members of staff and people who used to work in the NHS are being encouraged to send in a short written piece of 50 to 100 words starting with, "I remember when...."

They will be posted on the trust's website, alongside old photographs and other memorabilia.

North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust Chief Executive, Janet Soo-Chung, said: "It will be fantastic to hear the memories and personal experiences of people who have worked in the NHS in North Yorkshire at any point over the past 60 years.

"The way we care for patients has moved on so much, as has the way health services are managed. But throughout the last 60 years the key to the success of the NHS has been the dedication and hard work of staff."

Former members of staff can add their memories to the PCT's NHS 60 celebration webpage either by email: haveyoursay@nyypct.nhs.uk, by calling 01423 859694 or by writing to: NHS 60 Website, c/o Communications Team, The Hamlet, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, HG2 8RE.
