A troubleshooting council chief has been named interim chief executive of Craven District Council.

Brian Dinsdale, who has 16 years' experience as chief executive of local authorities, including Hartlepool District Council and Middlesbrough Council, is to take over on Tuesday July 15.

He will be the stand-in chief executive following the resignation of Gill Dixon and will remain in place until a full-time council head is appointed.

Since retiring from Middlesbrough Council in 2002, he has been a consultant and interim manager at a number of councils and is currently managing the formation of a single unitary authority in Durham.

He said: "I'm looking forward to working with councillors, officers and the new political administration to build on the council's achievements."

Council leader Coun Chris Knowles-Fitton said: "Brian has an excellent track record in a variety of local authorities. His experience will allow the council to continue its aim to provide excellent local services that really work for everyone."

In 2005 Mr Dinsdale was interim director of resources for North West Leicestershire Council and in early 2006 was interim chief executive for Scarborough Borough Council.

Well, at least he was awarded the OBE for services to regeneration.

'A little nervous' in the company of monkeys apparently - how strange!

Worth a quick 'google' anyway.
