Craven District Council has joined a national pledge to encourage more people to recycle their drinks cartons.

Even though cartons cannot currently be placed into the kerbside recycling bins, special collection bins are available at Skipton, Settle, Cross Hills, and Ingleton, says the council.

Eventually the old cartons will be recycled into a number of different products, ranging from plasterboard liner to high-strength paper bags and envelopes.

Coun Paul Whitaker, lead member for protecting and enhancing the environment, said: "We are supporting the carton recycling pledge to dispel the myth that cartons can't be recycled."

Maybe the council should start by providing more plastic bottle recycling bins first! (or actually emptying it more than once a week!)How can they try to encourage us to recycle more when they aren't doing their job!

Maybe they should also check their records - nobody on my street has even recieved a paper recycling bin yet, but according to the newsletter put through my letterbox last week - EVERYBODY in Craven now has one!
