Schools still waiting for test results
Nineteen primary schools in North Yorkshire have still to receive test results for their 11-year-olds.
Several more have returned the Key Stage Two tests for re-marking, it has been revealed.
Provisional test results were published this week by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The Government welcomed the results and said that there had been improvements across the board.
But North Yorkshire County Council criticised the delay in receiving the results and problems with the standard of marking.
Cynthia Welbourn, North Yorkshire County Council's corporate director for children and young people's service, said: "We have already expressed frustration on behalf of schools, parents and pupils about the delay in providing complete and reliable sets of test results this year.
"As we understand it, the latest position is that information is being provided for schools to check, but we do not expect to have a complete picture until September."
She said 19 schools in North Yorkshire were still to receive a full set of results and others had sent their papers back for re-marking.
"Figures published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families show North Yorkshire County Council's primary schools have received a 96 per cent return on KS2 results in English, 99 per cent in maths and 98 per cent on science," she said.
"We believe the English return in particular is less than satisfactory given many of our schools have sent back papers for re-marking."
