Decision due on proposals for 54 homes at Sutton-in-Craven
8:00am Monday 29th October 2012 in News
Plans for an estate of new homes at Thompson’s Field, Holme Lane, Sutton-in-Craven, have been recommended for approval.
Craven District Council’s planning committee will be told on Wednesday that the outline plan for 54 homes, car parking, wild flower meadow and riverside walk should be given the go-ahead.
If approved, the scheme, by Barratt and David Wilson Homes, will be subject to a 106 legal agreement to secure the provision of public open space and a contribution of £190,000 to the education authority. The developers will also have to include 40 per cent affordable housing and come up with a travel plan.
Sutton Parish Council has objected strongly to the proposed development which it says is not needed and which falls outside the development limits of the village. Other concerns include the site being a flood risk, increased pressure on sewers and the road network. In addition, the council has received 311 “generic” identical letters of objection, 38 letters from school children, and 60 from individuals.
The planning meeting is scheduled for South Craven Baptist Church at 1.30pm.
