Jazz singer Clare Teal takes on Children in Need challenge

Kildwick jazz sensation Clare Teal has taken on a mammoth challenge for the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal.

She is helping to build a big band from scratch with 19 amateur musicians in four weeks.

Aged from 14, the band comprises five saxophone players, five trumpeters, five trombonists and four rhythm players.

They will perform with five professional musicians and Clare at a Children in Need concert at Leeds Town Hall on Tuesday.

Also performing will be Olly Murs and Gregory Porter.

The concert will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds as part of the BBC’s Children In Need night .

Clare was educated at South Craven School, Cross Hills, before going on to become an acclaimed jazz singer, musician and BBC Radio 2 presenter.
