Dales parish councils get special training

Parish councils around the Dales have benefited from specialist training.

The Caring for the Parish project has provided training courses in desktop publishing to allow parish clerks to promote community events and the caretaker scheme, and in carrying out health and safety risk assessments.

Gillian Muir, of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, one of the partners in the project, said: “Although the project draws to a close at the end of 2012, we are now looking to the future and striving to equip the parishes with the contacts and skills necessary to continue looking after their vibrant villages once the scheme comes to an end.

“Effective training is the key to ensuring that the parish councils can continue the good work of the project for many more years.”
