Bid made to demolish part of mill
10:00am Saturday 27th October 2012 in News
An application to demolish part of Victoria Mill in Earby has been submitted to Pendle Council.
The Mill Company Ltd, which is based at Accrington, is seeking conservation area consent to demolish part of Victoria Mill to create an off- street hardstanding and service yard.
In the plan, the applicants state that the multi-let industrial building has no existing service yard and relies on access and servicing directly off public highways, Boot Street and Albert Road, all of which often become congested. The applicants also state that large areas of the mill are vacant and require improvements to enhance the prospect of the units being occupied.
The proposal calls for the demolition of the internal “north-light” roof structure and stud partition walls. The external stone-build walls would also be reduced to a height of approximately four metres with internal support buttresses as required.
l Pendle Council has also received an application by Mr D O’Neill, who is seeking planning permission to build a bungalow and detached single garage at Ardendene, on Dotcliffe Road, Kelbrook.
