The Aagrah in Skipton has been voted restaurant of the year for 2012 by Craven Herald readers.

First opened in the town in 1989, the restaurant was originally based in Devonshire Place and had 45 covers. It moved to Waterside Court, in Coach Street, just over two years ago and can now cater for 160 guests and has a private function room.

Partner Mostafzur Rahman said he was very proud to receive the award, but added it was recognition for the whole team.

Craven Herald advertising manager Gemma Aldersley said the competition had attracted more than 250 entries.

“I would like to thank the readers who voted,” she said. “The competition is always well supported.”

Runner-up was another Skipton restaurant, Mastab’s, and in third place was Kongs, also based in the town.
