Men are accused of molesting teenagers at Bolton Abbey

Two teenage girls, one a child, were molested by two men who imprisoned them in a car in the dark at a remote spot in the Dales, a jury has heard.

The alleged victims, then aged 14 and 19, were trapped in the vehicle near Bolton Abbey after being picked up in the Allerton area of Bradford, the city’s crown court has been told.

The 14-year-old was grabbed by the throat and incited to perform a sex act in the locked car and burned on the face with a cigarette, prosecutor Nick Askins said.

She was crying and saying she wanted to go home, the jury was told.

On trial were Bradford men Abdul Rashid, 28, of Hoxton Street, Girlington, and Mohammed Hussain, 26, of St Leonard’s Road, Girlington.

Both plead not guilty to unlawful imprisonment, between April 27 and 30 last year.

Rashid also denies sexual assault and Hussain two accusations of sexual activity with a child, two charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and damaging a car.

Mr Askins said the girls were persuaded to get into a silver Honda Accord with the defendants after they told them they were gorgeous.

The men drove towards Denholme and bought vodka that all four drank, Mr Askins said.

He alleged that Hussain offered the girls cannabis and cocaine but they declined.

The jury was told that the car was driven to Bolton Abbey and the cental locking system activated to stop the girls getting out.

Mr Askins said they pleaded to be allowed to go but were detained while darkness fell.

A man driving past at about midnight was concerned about what was going on and asked if everything was all right.

Mr Askins said that one girl replied that it was not and the man followed the car, which was driven erratically.

The man saw the car again in Addingham later and a female being forced into the back of it, it is alleged.

It was driven off towards Skipton, scuffing his car bumper as it went.

The court heard that the police were called when the girls went into a takeaway in Otley.

Rashid was arrested in the Honda Accord a few days later and Hussain the following month.

Both men denied committing any offences.

Rashid said the girls complained to the police because they were drunk and in trouble with their parents.
