People came from far and wide to a Christmas market in Settle that raised over £4,000 for a brain tumour research charity.

Last Saturday visitors flocked to the Jack’s Journey Christmas Market at St John’s Hall, and raised £4136.37 for the charity, Brain Tumour Research and Support Across Yorkshire.

The day was organised to raise money for the charity which has helped the family of three-year-old Wigglesworth boy, Jack Lambert, who has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour.

Just 18 months after fighting off one brain tumour, young Jack was diagnosed with a second tumour and recently finished six weeks of chemotherapy treatment.

During Saturday’s market, visitors were treated to a range of stalls, pottery painting, face painting, refreshments, cakes, raffle and tombola.

Co-organiser Sarah Kynaston, of Settle, said the stall holders donated between 10 per cent and 100 per cent of their takings, with one donating a massive £497 from sales on the day.

Sarah said: “People travelled from as far as Scarborough to attend the event.

“The feedback we’ve had from the day has been incredible and the fundraising team who organised the event would like to thank everyone who attended, everyone who helped on the day and all of the stall holders.

“It was an amazing day which couldn’t have gone any better.”
