The North West Region of the British Motorcyclists Federation is the latest group to pledge its support for the reopening of the railway line between Skipton and Colne.
It is backing the campaign, spearheaded by the Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership.
Peter Laidlow, the BMF’s member services director, said: “If carried out in a proper and meaningful manner, with the quality and capacity for growth of passenger and freight carriage, this link has the potential to follow the same success as the Aire Valley Line which has become one of the busiest outside London.
“The economic and employment benefits are clear to see, but there are other benefits that will mean a difference to motorcyclists in that there should be a reduction of road traffic leading to decreased incidents and injury on the road.”
Meanwhile, the partnership’s patron, the Right Rev Nicholas Reade, Bishop of Blackburn, called for more investment to help industry and the transport network in the North West in his final speech in the House of Lords.
