To inject a sense of adventure into the autumn Scouting programme, the annual Ingleborough District night hike was based around TV series The Cube.
Gathering at Knight Stainforth Caravan and Camping Park, the 80 youngsters brought along a model of a Cube studio as well as instructions for a future game.
These were judged for originality, resourcefulness and suitability before the Scouts, divided into a dozen teams, tackled a four-mile circular route, taking in Stackhouse, Stainforth and Langcliffe.
As they went around the course, the youngsters were challenged to beat The Cube by completing five tasks, each time attempting to move up the money ladder to the top prize of the night.
The teams showed skill and agility as they tackled the games.
“Not surprisingly, a sense of satisfaction pervaded as team after team of beaming youngsters successfully returned to the finish having beaten The Cube,” said District Commissioner Sue Haddrill.
The event was possible due to the support of more than 50 helpers.
The district team is keen to hear from anyone who can volunteer on a regular or occasional basis. Please e-mail dc.ingleborough@nys.org.uk.
