Aire View Infants School pupils James Isherwood, five, and Jessica Eakin, six, watch the magic of woodturning with Eric Mann of the Outer Turning Circle
Woodwork and wizardry combined at Aire View Infants School to help young pupils appreciate the art of creative writing.
A group of woodturners visited the Silsden school and brought with them three lathes.
One of the woodturners, Colin Gough from Ripponden, is also a member of Bradford Magic Circle and he staged a magic show for the children.
His colleagues had made more than 150 wooden magic wands which they gave to the pupils.
All the woodturners were from the Outer Turning Circle club, which is based in Wyke. “This is the third event like this that we’ve done,” said club secretary Doug Hirst. “We’re keen to help the community.”
Aire View Infants assistant head Tim Whitehead said the woodturners’ visit was part of the school’s magic and mystery topic.
