Pupils at Cracoe and Rylstone Primary School saw their World War Two history topic come alive.
They took part in a full day's workshop making their very own Spitfire models under the watchful eye of Charlie Lupton from Make Your Own History.
It involved the pupils using design technology to create their own scale models of Spitfire planes and barrage balloons out of willow.
Everyone had great fun and the pupils are now looking forward to having the full squadron displayed flying across the classroom.
History teacher and head Andrea Walker said: “It was a brilliant day combining history with DT in a very creative, exciting way, which also enabled the pupils to work together in groups and develop their teamworking skills.”
