Community groups in Silsden are to be invited to work together on plans to improve the town hall.

Group representatives will form a committee to thrash out the details of what new facilities should be provided.

Those involved could include existing user groups or organisations that might use the building in future.

The invitation was issued at a neighbourhood forum in the town when residents received an update on the town hall proposals.

Bradford councillor Andrew Mallinson, who represents Craven ward, said once funding was allocated, the new committee would discuss details such as room layouts.

Member organisations could include Silsden’s theatre group, community and arts group, judo and line dancing clubs.

Coun Mallinson said: “It will be led by Bradford Council working with the different groups. We have to understand the needs of existing groups.

“We also want to involve people from the business sector. This is about creating a big hub in the middle of the town so businesses need to be involved.”
