A pressure group is calling on business people to help in their campaign against dog fouling.

Glusburn, Cross Hills and Sutton Dog Fouling Action Group is appealing for help to pay for poo bags which will be used in bag dispenser boxes.

Jill Hirst, a founder member of the group, said: “Bidding has already been submitted for council funding to buy permanent metal poo bag dispensers to be attached to each of the 20 dog poo bins in the three villages, but it does not cover the ongoing cost of keeping them filled.

“Here’s where we hope local business could potentially help. One hundred pounds of sponsorship will fund enough poo bags for one of the stations, for a whole year.”

Business people who get involved will have the company mentioned on a dispenser showing that they are working to make the villages a cleaner and nicer places to live, she added.

The group is to feature in a BBC programme in the New Year which focuses on the nationwide problem of dog fouling and what people are doing to prevent it.

Letters are going out to companies throughout South Craven inviting them to become sponsors.
